Mountainous Austria has good prerequisites for hydropower generation, and countries with indigenous fossil fuels such as Poland, Estonia, Greece, Germany have a large share of coal or oil shale combustion for electricity generation.<\/p><p>In 2019, an average of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/cache\/infographs\/energy\/bloc-3b.html\">26% of electricity<\/a>\u00a0in the EU was generated by nuclear power in nearly 100 nuclear power plants. France is the largest producer.\u00a0<\/p><p>The European Union has set a target to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/clima\/policies\/eu-climate-action\/2030_ctp_en\">reduce CO2 emissions by 55%<\/a>\u00a0by 2030 and reach climate neutrality by 2050.<\/p><p>At the same time, a number of EU Member States, such as the Netherlands, the UK, Finland, Denmark and France, have taken the national decision to abandon the use of coal in electricity generation. However, renewable energies are unfortunately dependent on the weather: either wind or sun. At the same time, however, renewable electricity production does not coincide with daily consumption cycles, with consumption at the beginning and end of the working day significantly higher than the average daily consumption. The closure of fossil-fuel-based generation capacity will make energy imports much more expensive - we can already see this in the steady and rapid rise in energy prices.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Self-production of energy should be carbon-free, in all weathers and at a price that suits the consumer.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Euroopa riikidel on geograafiast tulenevalt v\u00e4ga erinevad energia vajadused ja energia tootmise eeldused.
