On Thursday, an international seminar on nuclear energy was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Change, the JAIF International Cooperation Centre (JICC), the Embassy of Japan and Fermi Energy.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The seminar focused on nuclear energy policies and developments in both Japan and Estonia. Representatives from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the University of Tokyo and the Japan Atomic Energy Agency provided a comprehensive overview of Japan's nuclear energy policies, including reactor restarts, safety and security measures, and the role of small modular reactors (SMRs) in meeting clean energy needs.<\/div>\n

Reelika Runnel, Coordinator of the Nuclear Energy Working Group, and Henri Ormus, Member of the Board of Fermi Energia, spoke about the current situation and challenges of nuclear energy in Estonia. Runnel stressed that Estonia has a lot to learn from Japan as they have a long and diverse experience in nuclear energy. \"Estonia, as a country with no previous experience in nuclear energy, needs strong partners. Japan has been an invaluable support for us, sharing its experience and knowledge in our first steps towards nuclear energy,\" said Reelika Runnel.<\/div>\n
