Viru-Nigula municipality and Fermi Energia signed agreement for conditional transfer of the Madala property

On Wednesday, 13 May, the Viru-Nigula rural municipality government signed a notarial obligation agreement with Fermi Energia AS for the conditional alienation of the Madala property to Fermi Energia, should the state's spatial planning reveal that the most suitable location for building a nuclear power plant is within the boundaries of the Madala property near Kunda Port. The signing of the agreement follows the decision by the Viru-Nigula Rural Municipality Council on 26 March to alienate the property to Fermi Energia under agreed basic terms. 15 council members voted in favour of the decision. The alienation of the property is subject to several conditions and the final transaction will only take place if the state planning process, safety assessments, and necessary permits confirm the suitability of the location. The agreement also provides for mechanisms that guarantee fair compensation and long-term benefits for the municipality.
