71% of Estonians support the continuation of preparations for the construction of a new generation of nuclear power plants
A survey conducted by Kantar Emor in January shows that 71% of respondents support or rather support the continuation of preparations for the construction of a new generation nuclear power plant. Compared to the previous survey in April 2025, support for the deployment of nuclear power has increased and is now at its highest level over the survey period since 2019. At the same time, the share of those opposed to nuclear power has continued its downward trend. According to the latest survey, 17% of respondents oppose nuclear power development, with almost equal numbers of 'firm' (8%) and 'somewhat' (9%) opponents. 12% of respondents could not take a clear position. Corrected 27.01. Nuclear energy continues to be the preferred development option for electricity generation in Estonia. In response to the question "Which type of electricity generation in Estonia do you favour, given the reduction of shale-based electricity generation?", the most common option for the development of electricity generation in Estonia is still the preference of the majority of respondents.
