Fermi Energia has already raised an investment of €1.68 million through the FunderBeam platform. A total of 1,645 investors participated in the financing, of which nearly 95% were Estonian residents. The aim of the fundraising was to finance the company's work on the development of a small-scale reactor in Estonia, including through the national special planning process.

Fermi Energia was also invested in by the Belgian engineering company Tractebel Engineering SA, part of the Engie group, and a number of Estonian professional investors, as well as the Swedish national energy company Vattenfall.

In addition to Tractebel and Vattenfall, Fermi Energia is also working with a number of other European energy companies, who will contribute their know-how and gain new practical knowledge of small reactor technologies.

The Estonian company Fermi Energia was founded in early 2019 by nuclear energy and energy economy experts Merja Pukari, Henri Ormus, Sandor Liive, Kaspar Kööp, Mait Müntel, Kalev Kallemets and Marti Jeltsov.
