Viru-Nigula municipality prepares conditions for future acquisition of land for a nuclear power plant

The Viru-Nigula Municipal Council authorised the Municipal Government to draw up the terms and conditions of a pre-negotiated tender for the Madala property. The council's decision will help to ensure legal and ownership certainty at a later stage of the planning process, should the Madala property, adjacent to the Kunda harbour and belonging to the municipality of Viru-Nigula, prove to be the most suitable location for the nuclear power plant, following the consideration of candidates in the course of the national special planning process. The council decided to authorise the municipality to organise a pre-negotiated tender and to formulate the terms and conditions. This would give Fermi Energia the opportunity to acquire the Madala site for the construction of a nuclear power plant on mutually agreeable terms, if a comparison of the candidates for the site in the national specific plan shows that this site is the most suitable for the construction of the plant.
